MAC Clinical Research’s Manchester site is an MHRA audited and accredited Phase I centre located within and supported by the Manchester University Foundation Trust, specialising in First-in-Human (FIH), FIH Healthy Volunteer and Patient Recruitment. MAC conducts First-in-Human patient studies across a wide range of therapeutic areas in Manchester.
From 2002, MAC has steadily expanded its network of sites to increase geographic reach for early-phase patient studies. This continuous expansion ensures timely, cost-effective recruitment and delivery of non-First-in-Man (FIM) Phase 1 studies, with all sites operating under the same systems and central processes. Our UK site locations include Glasgow, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, South Staffordshire, South Yorkshire, Teesside, and West Yorkshire.
Early Phase studies play a critical role in the development of new drugs and treatments. The primary goal being to assess the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics (how the drug is absorbed, distributed, metabolised, and excreted), and pharmacodynamics (the effects of the drug on the body) of the investigational product.
At MAC, we offer significant expertise in conducting early phase trials. 41% of all trials carried out over the last 5 years at our sites were phase 1.
A key benefit of our early-phase sites is their ability to collaborate and optimise participant recruitment with approximately 35 million people living within 20 minutes of a centre. As such, MAC regularly recruits into early phase patient studies with similar timelines experienced in Healthy Volunteer studies.
Our site network collaborates with our specialised in-house recruitment team from one overarching database, which currently holds over 250,000 opted in clinical research participants.
